• Win XP/2000 (95/98/Me at own risk)

• • Download the latest full install build.
  • Extract the downloaded file with winace or winrar.
  • Run the setup wizard.

• Win 95/98/Me (the safe way)

• • Download B-News1.1.3.setup.zip from: https://sf.net/projects/b-news/
  • Extract the downloaded file with winzip or winace or winrar.
  • Run the setup wizard, remember the install directory 
  • Download the latest updater build.
  • Extract the downloaded file with winace or winrar.
  • Run the updater wizard and select the previously choosen install directory

B-News Plus update

• Your current version is older than B-News 0.1.3

• • Download the latest updater build.
  • pre plus 0.1.6: Delete the files "Downloadfiles.dat"  & "postfiles.dat" in the folder with the name of your news sever (where you did install b-news GU).
  • Extract the downloaded file with winace or winrar.
  • Run the updater Wizard.

B-News PLUS Quick help

• Resuming

B-news GU will automatically resume your uploading and downloading files if you are using the TDC. All you have to do is restart b-news if it should crash (not very likely).

• yEnc - downloading

How do you download yEnc files using B-news Plus. First make sure you have the correct version of B-news, that is B-news Plus (use the about option in the help menu). When you are sure you are using the correct versions all you have to do is enableing the yEnc filter. It should be on by default, but if it is not you can enable it by making sure the second button from the right on the toolbar is pressed down. It is the big blue dot with the 'Y' on. Now you can download yEnc postings like any other B-news post.

• yEnc - uploading

Uploading files using the yEnc encoding is just as easy as uploading BN files. You just need too choose the prefered encoding in the upload window.

• CRC checking

Every file part posted with b-news plus has some crc informations send with it. B-news will check this information and warn you when there is a problem. Files with crc error will be renamed.

• Canceling messages

B-news plus allows you to cancel messages. But oonly the ones you have send that are not complete, this to prevent abuse. To cancel a message, select the message(s) and chose Cancel Message from the message menu, or right click on the message.

• Repairing an incompletly posted file

This one is easy to. Rightclick on the specific file. Choose Repair this post. You will now have to choose the sourcefile for this post. Once you have done that click on repair post. If the generated headers seem correct press post and wait while b-news plus is completing the post.
